The World of Adventure

Motorcycle expeditions, overland travel, and a lifetime of figuring out what actually works when you leave the pavement.

Jim Hyde founded RawHyde Adventures, an off-road motorcycle academy and ranch in California. For years the ranch was where adventure riders came to learn the big bike: dirt, hills, obstacles, and the judgment that goes with them. RawHyde became BMW’s official training center in Southern California, and Jim spent that time on the trail with the people who build the gear, ride the bikes, and lead the long trips.

The World of Adventure is the next chapter. Jim is leading tours himself now — adventure motorcycle expeditions and overland trips by jeep — and using this site to share where he is going and what he has learned.

Two kinds of riding live here side by side. ADV Moto expeditions are the two-wheel journeys, starting with Patagonia next March. Overlanding expeditions are the jeep tours. Alongside both, Jim is writing motorcycle and overland product overviews from the kit he has actually used.

There is also a barn to empty. Vehicles, motorcycles, camping gear, and the adventure stuff that accumulated as RawHyde grew are for sale at shop.theworldofadventure.com.
